Newest Squarespace Features You Cannot Miss! - February 2023

Squarespace is rolling out brand new features for the year! Starting this February, Squarespace has updated a few key design options that make the entire process SO much easier. Additionally there is a HUGE change for e-commerce users you’ll want to know about if you’re still considering other web-builders for your store. Check out this video to learn more, or read below to get the TLDR.

    Saved Sections

Squarespace now offers the option to save sections so they can be reapplied on other pages. By clicking the heart icon you can now save a section with all it’s design elements and duplicate it elsewhere.

The two things to keep in mind about this feature are 1: Like most feature updates this is limited to Squarespace 7.1.
And 2: The content does not auto-sync. Meaning any changes you make in one section will have to be made manually anywhere else.

    Copy & Paste Feature

If you’ve been designing for awhile, you know this is a HUGE update. Now creators have the ability to copy and paste entire sections in Fluid Engine. By highlighting the boxes of the section you want to move, you can do a simple ctrl c + ctrl v to duplicate and drop a design anywhere else on your site. By allowing users the ability to do this, Squarespace has just streamlined the design process for everyone, allowing for faster builds and faster site launches.

    Text Scale & Highlight

Changing text to scale will allow text to automatically adjust its size to fit the screen. So you’ll know that the transition from desktop to mobile will be consistent for all users.

We’re now able to highlight text (including individual words in one section) with design elements that will make it stand out. This includes animated effects that will give more attention to the section and draw the eye directly to the information you’re trying to share.

    Google Merchant

This new feature is a game changer - this is a major difference maker for those running an e-commerce store who are still on the fence with Squarespace and other Ecomm platforms. Squarespace now allows users to connect with Google Merchant accounts.
Google Merchant allows you to show your products on Google, and is a huge part of the online shopping experience. Now shoppers can search for an item and find your products listed as a recommendation. This is a HUGE step for Squarespace that we’re super excited to see!
