Analytical information about your visitors
Insights on how your Squarespace site is doing in organic searches
Learning how different keywords are performing for you
Detailed information on impressions and click-through-rates (CTR)
Having a convenient way to set up and track Squarespace SEO campaigns

Easily Add Google Search Console to Squarespace
Once you’ve successfully completed the steps outlined in our quick guide below, you can enjoy the SEO power and insights GSC offers! Follow along to complete your Squarespace integration process.
Step 1: Log In to Squarespace & Open Another Window for GS
Make sure you are logged into the backend of your Squarespace website.
Open a separate window. There, go to this site:
https://search.google.com/search-console/welcome
Click on “Start Now”
Paste your Squarespace site URL into the URL prefix box
You will have to include the “http” or “https” prefix to your website in the URL prefix box
Click “Continue”
If you see this happy little green box, then Google Search Console has already been added to your site, perhaps because you’ve previously added Google Analytics. Congratulations!
Treat yourself to your favorite coffee and some great YouTube videos (yep, a shameless plug, but you’ll definitely find some useful Squarespace SEO videos here).
Now, if you haven’t added Google Analytics yet, don’t stress! You’re free to add it now or later – it’s totally up to you. Check out our convenient guide to add GA4 Google Analytics to your Squarespace Site.
All right, let’s continue with the Google Search Console installation.
Step 2: Copy the GSC Meta Tag
You will see a “Verify ownership” pop-up box with a “Recommended verification method” section.
Scroll down to the “Other verification methods” section
Click on “HTML Tag: Add a meta tag to your site’s home page”
On the first step that appears, where it says “Copy the meta tag below,” click on “COPY”
Step 3: Paste the Meta Tag Into Squarespace
Now that you’ve copied the meta tag from Google Search Console, you’ll need to paste it into your Squarespace site.
Switch windows to go to the backend of your Squarespace website
Go to the “Code Injection” section of Squarespace
Paste the code that you’ve copied from GSC into the Header box, where it reads, “Enter code that will be injected into the ‘head’ tag on every page of your site”
Remember to click the “SAVE” button found on the upper left side
Please note: To access the “Code Injection” section of your site, you must be using a Squarespace business plan or higher. This is considered an advanced feature that’s available only with higher plans. Consider upgrading if you need to.
Now that you’ve copied the meta tag from GSC and pasted it to your Squarespace site, it’s time to verify that you are the owner of the site.
Step 4: Verify Ownership
After copying and pasting the right code from GSC into the correct Squarespace location, go back to your Google Search Console window and do the following:
Return to the “Verify ownership” pop-up box
Step 2 under “HTML tag: Add a meta tag to your site’s home page” reads “Click Verify below”
Find the “VERIFY” button underneath that section, and click it
Click “DONE” at the bottom right of the “Verify ownership” pop-up box
Moving forward, remember to keep the meta tag intact in the “Code Injection” section of your Squarespace site. Don’t try to change or remove it.
Step 5: Check Your Google Search Console Screen
If everything worked right, then what you should see on your GSC screen is an Overview page. While this page can change in format from time to time, depending on the latest Google template updates, expect to see some key elements here, including the following:
A graph of Performance over time, showing web search clicks and giving you the option to open a report
A Coverage graph, showing your valid pages as well as which pages (if any) have errors, along with the option to open a report
A URL Inspection feature
Sitemap features
Mobile usability details
Security information
And much more
If you see that page, congratulations … you’ve done it! You’ve successfully added Google Search Console to Squarespace. You can start using it to improve your Squarespace SEO and get the quality traffic your business needs.
Through dedicated SEO efforts over time, you should start to see some of your Squarespace website pages rising to higher, more visible spots on search engine page results.
