Squarespace has a new feature that can make a huge impact on those working in e-commerce. Lets take a closer look at how to use this.

How Do I Activate Built-in Product Reviews?

Generally speaking, you would need to already have your e-commerce site set up in order to take advantage of the built-in product reviews. So, once you have decided to activate this feature, you simply navigate to the commerce section.
    From there, you go:

    • > Product reviews.

    • > Request reviews

    • > Email notifications

Email notifications enable your customers to receive an automated email 14 days after placing their order. Moreover, the email can be altered and customized, but for now, you cannot change the timeframe in which the email will be sent.

Either way, although product reviews are typically designed for products only, customers can leave reviews for physical and digital products and services. Therefore, this feature is beneficial not only to e-commerce businesses but to service-driven businesses of all kinds.

Let’s Review the Rules for Reviews

Activating the product review feature makes a Squarespace site automatically capable of accepting customer reviews. First, however, here are the rules for leaving reviews on Squarespace sites:

    1. Time Limit: Customers have up to 120 days to leave a review on the products or services they’ve received.

    2. Product Must be Present: In order to display the reviews, the product or service must be visible on the site. In other words, once you discontinue a product or service, you can no longer display those reviews.

    3. One Review Limit: Each product or service has a one-review limit.

    4. No Requests for Email Renewal of Subscription Orders: Customers will not receive product review requests for products or services purchased via recurring subscription or email renewal.

    5. Hiding Reviews: The business owner maintains total control over the process. So, it is possible to hide them. To do so, go to the review you want to hide, click ‘visibility’ from the drop-down menu and click ‘hide’ to subdue the review.

How Do You Display Your Product Reviews?

When it comes to displaying product or service reviews, there are three different options. They are as follows:

    • Product reviews only

    • Store reviews only

    • Product and service reviews

Additionally, you have the option to activate Etsy reviews. This is a fantastic feature for those who have Etsy shops. It allows the site to post reviews that customers left on your Etsy store automatically. To activate the reviews, you simply scroll down to the ‘Etsy Review’ option and click ‘import.’ Moreover, if you do opt to display your Etsy reviews, there is a whole section that allows you to learn about them and customize them as well. You also have the option to hide the reviews in the future if you so choose.

In addition to having a well-built website and offering fantastic products and services, displaying product reviews on websites can offer amazing benefits to the business owner and the web designer. This is because product/service reviews can be a great way to ensure potential buyers that you are selling quality products. Therefore, they can be instrumental to your marketing strategy and help boost your conversion rates over time. Moreover, although negative product reviews are not a great tool to recruit customers, they can allow you to receive invaluable feedback directly from your target demographic. So, while it makes sense to hide them, site owners can leverage negative reviews to their advantage.

On the other hand, posting product reviews can make websites more engaging and lucrative overall. Therefore, this can be a great feature for web designers to add to their demo sites and portfolios.
