How to Setup A Most Popular Content Section on Your Squarespace Blog
Squarespace’s new Most Popular Content section is a fantastic way to promote growth to your blog. When a reader finishes one post they can be advertised your additional content through a “Most Popular” segment - which is a great way to develop your audience. While a reader may have come across you through a Google search, they may find your other content holds value for them in the same way and will explore the rest of your website. This feature can be an excellent addition whether your blog is new, or if you’ve been running for a very long time. Here are the 4 steps to add this concept to your page.

How Do I Turn on the Squarespace Most Popular Feature?
If you’re a blog owner who prefers to go the DIY route, this process is more straightforward than it seems. Although the process is manual, it makes it much easier to add new content later. In other words, once you have created the new section, you can add or remove content at will. To add new content, you will simply find the content you want to add and complete the process detailed below. On the other hand, if you want to remove any content, you will simply click ‘edit’ and remove the content from the section.
Navigate to the Site Content Section
The first step is to navigate to the site content of your website. You will find the analytics for the most popular posts on your website or the pages that receive the most visitors there. Collect that information and choose which blog posts to feature.
Go to the Blog
After you have reviewed the analytics, you will go to the blog section. Search through your posts to locate the blog titles you’ve chosen to feature. Once you have located them, simply click on the three dots next to each of them and click ‘settings.’ From there, you will navigate to ‘options’ and click on ‘featured post.’ Check the box to enable the post to be featured in the ‘most popular content section’ and click ‘save.’
Set up a Tag
Alternatively, you could set up a tag. To do so, you can simply choose the ‘tag’ option rather than going to ‘options.’ After that, you will name the tag whatever you choose; it should be something that denotes you will be displaying the best content on your blog under it. Once you have set up the tag, you can begin tagging all of the high-value content from your blog.
Add a Section
No matter which method you use, you will need to add a new section to display the content. To do so, you will navigate to the home page, click ‘edit,’ and then click ‘add a section.’ You will be adding a blank section to house your new ‘most popular content’ section. From there, you will want to title the page however you wish, keeping in mind that the title should let your visitors know that this section displays your best content.
> Click the + sign and search for summaries to add.
> Go to ‘select a page’ and then click on ‘articles.’
> Click the ‘filter items’ section. This section will allow you to choose a tag or category. However, it is not required. Either way, you will want to find the ‘feature only’ section and activate it.
>Go to ‘design’ to set it up as a grid or carousel. You can then adjust your ‘items per row’ settings and others until the page has the look and feel you are going for.
Congratulations! The setup process is complete!
Overall, if you are interested in creating a ‘most popular content’ section for your blog, this information is more than enough to get you started. Remember: there is no right or wrong way to design this section as long as it allows you to display the content how you intend to.
